Dell Software Senior Escalation Engineer in Bengaluru, India

Integrated Offerings (IO) Ecosystem Engineering is looking for a hands-on, passionate, results-oriented and inventive Senior Escalation Engineer to join our team. Candidates should understand software development, have excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills, be able to deliver quick solutions for hot issues and be eager to improve product quality and reliability.

In this role the Escalation Engineer will apply their technical expertise to resolve highly complex customer issues through advanced troubleshooting, debugging and solution delivery. They will work closely with Ecosystem Engineering Development teams on product fixes, potential improvements and helping to define serviceability focus areas. Additional responsibilities include providing problem resolution skills development for the services organization and assistance in building up their knowledge base.

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technical expertise using standard operating and diagnostic procedures to resolve issues

  • Communicate technical issues to external customers in a fast paced and customer critical environment

  • Maintain a closed-loop communication style, assuring all appropriate individuals are notified of ongoing issues and problem resolution status

  • Drive the software development process towards quality-centric methodologies

  • Take part in field support and L2 support training and development of training content

  • Explore new tools and technologies and develop few of your own

Essential Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in computer science or related technical discipline

  • 3-5 years of experience in a customer facing engineering role

  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences: engineers, management, and support

  • Proficiency with VMware environments and applications

  • Proficiency with Linux environments

  • Proficiency in Enterprise storage technologies

  • Scripting – Perl/Python/PowerShell/Shell

  • Experience working in an agile environment

  • Experience in working with customers worldwide

Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Familiar with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).

  • Experience working with automation or orchestration platforms.

  • Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience working with Ansible.

  • Experience working with Microsoft System Center.

  • Experience working on file system, storage system and distributed system is a plus

  • Capable of working under pressure

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
