Senior Software Engineering Manager

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will direct the activities of a software development function for software application enhancements and new products. You will work with internal and external partners on the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of computer programs.

You will:

• Participate in long-range planning and development of operational goals and engineering specifications

• Contribute to the modification, development and implementation of company practices and policies that affect subordinate employees

• Create schedules and work plans and be accountable for managing a budget

• Provide innovative solutions to complex problems and communicate progress toward project/program goals

• Liaise with senior management to report on project and program milestones and to present project needs

Responsabilities

  • Ability to apply software lifecycle and quality assurance methodologies in a cost-effective manner in order to bring high-quality products to market on time

  • Solid understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products and competitor offerings

  • Capability to write and review requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, tech plans and documentation

  • Responsible for collaborating with engineering organizations across ISG on CI/CT/CD as a subject matter expert on continuous test.

  • Champion and promote an agile, continuous deployment and integration approach

  • Develop continuous testing strategies, standards and guidelines.

  • Work with ISG engineering teams to understand the current state of CI/CD and work towards normalizing processes.

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight in working with primary storage engineering teams

  • Work with DevOps leadership peers to create and execute upon the roadmap for enabling continuous testing within the CI/CD pipeline.

  • Manage, mentor and coach first line managers and individual contributors, hiring diverse A-level talent.

  • Develop a technical engineering team that fosters creativity, collaboration and a continuous learning/growth mindset.

  • Focus on providing customer success operational updates using actionable metrics to highlight execution progress, roadblocks and risks.

Requirements of Success

  • 12 to 15 years of relevant experience

  • 4 years managerial experience

  • 10+ years of leading and driving the agile strategic vision for test engineering teams across multiple products and technologies.

  • Ideal experience with IoT delivery and hardware/software products

  • Subject matter expert driving engineering teams to maximum productivity.

  • Hands on experience in transforming test approaches and methods to a completely automated, continuous testing approach within a CI/CD pipeline.

  • An understanding of how to utilize Machine Learning as part of the overall test automation strategy. (Experience a plus)

  • Experience with engineering bottlenecks and how to maximize productivity for engineering teams.

  • Hands on experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Slack, Kubernetes and Kafka

  • Proven track record of successfully executing and driving projects with major business impacts across multiple products and technologies.

  • Proven experience leading distributed engineering/quality teams.

  • Effective leader with strong decision-making and communication skills.

  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative nature, strong negotiation and operational skills.
