Dell UEFI/BIOS Principal Software Engineer in Texas

UEFI/BIOS Principal Software Engineer

As a Senior Principal BIOS Engineer, you’llwork with an experienced team of engineers to research, specify, and develop BIOS features for next generation Clientproducts, driving industry leading IP / feature development.You’ll apply skills and experience across the full cycle of software development (specification development and review, debug and validation) to enable features and capabilities of platforms in areas like UEFI drivers, power management, security and manageability. This position is in the Client Platform Software Engineering.

Roles/Responsibilities

-Take ideas from concept phase through delivery, including creating high level design docs, scoping design and requirements and detailed spec creation

-Proof of Concept design and implementation/productizing

-Platform Core Team participation and negotiation for prioritization of technology feature implementation

-Ability to take a design idea and convert it into high level design documents and to a feature that gets delivered in Dell Client products

-Ability to take ownership of overall UEFI platform design throughout the platform lifecycle

-Ability to work with silicon partners and ODM partners to deliver platform BIOS modifications for a certain chipset/product

Requirements

-Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar field

-Expertise with Intel and/or AMD system architectures

-10+ years’ experience in BIOS/firmware SW development

-UEFI or system software programming expertise

-Proven track record in product development/design with strong Program Management skillset

-Low level programming capability - system/motherboard/device/chipset level

-Experience with analyzers and other HW tools to debug complex system SW issues

Preferences

-Masters in EE or CS

-Familiarity with Client or Server BIOS development

-Familiarity with higher level programming (apps / tools)
